SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 2017 Rose and Crown seeks local product testers Each year approximately 185,000 people in the U.S. become amputees. In order to live an active lifestyle, many choose to wear a prosthetic device. This creates unique life- long skincare needs related to their surgical site and prosthet- ic impact. Common problems include pain, irritation, sores that are slow to heal, poor skin integri- ty and insufficient blood and lymph circulation. Entrepreneurs Patricia Immel of Wellspring Clinic and Sarah Butte of Rose & Crown Apothecary have developed a company focused on organic skincare solutions for amputees. “Our purpose is to improve comfort and quality of life for M ASONS 5 A HONOR STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIPS people who wear a prosthe- sis,” said Butte. “Currently, we are seeking amputees to test our salve.” This past spring, Immel and Butte were accepted into the first RAIN (Regional Accelerator and Innovation Network) coastal pre-acceler- ator program — a boot-camp for entrepreneurs. “This is an entrepreneur’s dream come true, said Immel. “The RAIN program brings dedicated, successful, innova- tive and influential mentors to foster economic development in our region. Their goal is our success.” Amputees who would like to test this product are invited to contact Wellspring Clinic at 541-902-8860.
