The script and lyrics are not only funny, witty and a bit wicked, but often touching. The cast is made up of local favorites Maree Beers, Melanie Heard, Jacob Ternyik, Wendy Krause and Jake Molano. Each actor plays multiple roles in a series of short vignettes. This is a celebration of the mating game which takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as “the relationship”. Trust us when we tell you that somewhere in these characters you will see yourself, your sib- ling, your best friend, your spouse and or your parents. The play takes us from when the first man meets the first woman all the way through pick-up techniques of the geri- atric set. Did you ever dream of being a stud or a babe? Have you ever had a different con- versation going on in your brain from the one coming out of your mouth? Ever met a macho man that is actually a teddy bear at heart? Ever been a bridesmaid? Ever waited for that phone call from a special him or her? Ever taken a fami- ly road trip? All of this — and more — is provided via a witty script and lyrics and first-rate acting and singing talent. Lauria has entertained audi- ences in Florence for years COURTESY PHOTO Class Act Theatre and the cast of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” (from left) Melanie Heard, Jacob Ternyik, Wendy Krause, Jake Molano and Maree Beers, welcome the community to play June 16 to 18 and 23 to 25. with plays such as “Li’l Abner,” “Sugar,” “Angry Housewives,” “Cabaret,” “Sound of Music,” “Chicago” and “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”. He has also acted in productions that include “Proof,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest,” “Li’l Abner” and several Poison Pen Players murder mystery dinner theaters. Lauria says he is excited about this show, not only because of the fabulous script and lyrics, but because of the talent he was able to assemble. Beers not only acts and sings in this show but she also is its musical director. Maybe you have seen her singing with the local jazz quartet Miles to Go, or perhaps you saw her in “Chicago,” “Les Miserables,” “Cabaret,” “Joseph & The Technicolor Dream Coat” or witnessed the magic she helps happen as musical director for CROW (Children’s Repertory of Oregon Workshops). For the past several years, Heard (who is choreographer as well as actor in this show) has put her energy and talent into being the creator and Artistic Director of CROW, and now she is bringing her own singing and acting talent back on stage. Audiences may recall Melanie’s unforgettable performance as Sally Bowles in “Cabaret.” Ternyik was bitten by the acting bug as a CROW kid. He was most recently seen in “The Addams Family” and, before that, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “Shrek,” “Beauty & the Beast,” “Cabaret” and “Chicago,” as well as being an actor for Poison Pen Players. Krause has previously starred in local musical pro- ductions of “Li’l Abner,” “Sugar” and “Holly Jolly Follies,” and is now returning to the stage after taking a few years off. This is only Jake Molano’s second venture onstage, but he wowed audiences with his act- ing and singing talents as Gomez in CROW’s “The Addams Family.” You will likely see more of him in com- ing years. This play is the first of four plays that will make up Class Act Theatre’s 2017 theatrical season. The other plays in the season include the Pulitzer Prize winning drama “Proof,” the hilarious comedy “Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike” and the funny and irreverent comedy “Greater Tuna.” Season tickets to see all four productions are $60 or you can buy tickets for individual shows at a cost of $18 General Admission or $16 Seniors and Military.
