Last Resort Players announce cast of ‘Annie’
Actors and production team
members of Last Resort
Players took to the streets May
21 to showcase two upcoming
performances. Participants in
the Rhododendron Festival’s
Grand Floral Parade included
current actors from June’s
“Master Class,” past perform-

and “Moon Over Buffalo” and
the debut of Elyse Stewart as
the star of “Annie.”
Jennifer Connor will direct
“Annie” at the Florence Events
Center on November 3 to 5 and
10 to 12.
“Annie” is a Broadway
musical based upon the popular
Harold Gray comic strip “Little
Orphan Annie,” with music by
Charles Strouse, lyrics by
Martin Charnin, and book by
Thomas Meehan. The musi-
cal’s songs “Tomorrow” and
“It’s the Hard Knock Life” are
among its most popular musi-
cal numbers.
Set in the 1930s, Annie is a
spunky orphan girl who must
live in a miserable orphanage
run by the tyrannical Miss
Hannigan. Her seemingly
hopeless situation changes dra-
matically when she is selected
to spend a short time at the res-
idence of the wealthy muni-
