2 | SALUTE TO WESTERN LANE AMBULANCE DISTRICT | WEDNESDAY, MAY 24, 2017 Salute to Western Lane Ambulance District Rick Yecny Dick Childs Mike Webb Board of Directors 12 Years Board of Directors, less than a year Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Mission Officer, PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center 14 year resident of Florence. He is a Navy veteran of the submarine service, and a graduate of San Diego State. He went on to become a Special Agent with the Naval Investigative Service (now NCIS), retiring after 26 years. Dick has been an active volunteer in Florence. Over the years he has worked with the Humane Society, Oregon State Police, the Step Group, and is currently involved with the Habitat For Humanity Restore, the hospital, Heceta Water District, and as a Board member for Western Lane ambulance After growing up in Corvallis and completing my formal education at Oregon State University, I moved to Florence to take the opportunity to manage the local Sprouse Reitz store. It was in Florence that I met my wife Jana. We have two wonderful children, two grandchildren, two dogs, many cats and a bird. Currently I work as a Commercial Relationship Manager with Oregon Pacific Bank. Ive been with the bank since 1998. In my spare time I enjoy cycling, running, golf and bowling. I began working with Western Lane Ambulance several years ago, first serving as a budget committee member. For the last 12 years I have served on the board of directors for the district. I also fill a seat for the District on the Florence Urban Renewal Committee. Since moving here, I have had the opportunity to witness tremendous growth in the Florence area. I continue to see what the future holds for our community. Rick, a Certified Public Accountant, was Chief Financial Officer of Peace Health Siuslaw Region from 2001 to 2010, and has since been promoted to Chief Administrative Officer. From 1982 through 2000, he was a principal shareholder of Davis, Yecny & McCulloch, P.C., a certified public accounting firm with offices in Florence and formerly Reedsport, Oregon. Rick previously was on the Lane Community College budget committee and was a board member and treasurer of Friends of Florence, a nonprofit organization located in Florence. Jack has lived in this area all his life. I moved to Mapleton in 1950, graduated in 1956. I worked in the Siuslaw School District 25 years as a teaching aide. I worked at the Siuslaw News 6 years. My hobby is Sole painting. I have taught painting for 20 years. I will have put on 42nd Christmas Bazaars in the Florence area. I have been on budget committee at Heceta Water District. I have been on WLA Board for 19 years. Which has been a rewarding journey. I am now on budget committee for SVFR. Those include Trauma Nursing, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and I have received multiple Excellence in Nursing Awards. I also hold certificates in Essential Management Skills, Disaster Preparedness and Skills for Leads. I am also a small business owner here in Florence. I am an energetic people-oriented person. Honesty and integrity are the most important standards that I hold for myself. Jim Langborg Chief/Director of SVFR & WLAD 1 Year Jim is the Chief/Director of SVFR and WLAD. He has been in the fire service for 24 years and been involved in emergency medical services for over 30 years. He got his start in the United States Air Force where he served his country as a Medic. Throughout his career, he has worked as a Paramedic, Firefighter, EMS Chief, Battalion Chief, Deputy Chief, and Fire Chief. Jim has an AS Degree in Fire Protection Technology, a BS Degree in Fire Science, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, and is a Certified Executive Fire Officer through the National Fire Academy. When Jim is not working, he enjoys the great outdoors with his wife and two dogs. Having been in every facet of the District has given me a great perspective of past, current and into the future for Western Lane Ambulance District. Most importantly, I have the pleasure of sharing life with Melissa, my lovely wife. For the past 17 years she has stood by my side and encouraged my professional growth and has been my biggest supporter. Happily married, and enjoys being in the outdoors and being with family. I am happily married to someone also in the medical field. We have two little boys and look forward to raising them in our community. I believe that I have the best profession in the world, and I enjoy helping and serving those in need. I earned a masters from NLU, and I worked in Social Services for 5 years before becoming a paramedic. I have 3 children and one grandson, I enjoy a variety of sports, hobbies, church and volunteer activities including working as a boxing coach. I am a Siuslaw High School alumni. I Graduated from Chemeketa Community College for my Paramedic license. In my free time I enjoy spending it with my family; husband Robert, children Ryan, Hailey, Logan, and Lila. I am also the JV coach for Siuslaw Softball Team. I have been happily married 23 years to my wife Therese have two daughters Gyllian 14 and Genevieve 17. In my free time, I teach and have taught, the paramedic labs at Lane Community College for the past 15 years. Also, I am actively involved with South Willamette Honor Flight as a volunteer which takes war time veterans to Washington DC to visit their memorials and monuments. I will be going on my 7th and 8th trips in May and October this year. Please check out this very worth program www.swvhonorflight.com. Last year, I started volunteering for a drum and bugle corps, The Blue Devils from Concord California. This is a world class organization I marched with in my youth, and now I am a part of their Health and Wellness team. I provide CPR and first aid training for their staff, and touring with them in the summer with them as a medic for the 150 young adult members and staff. I feel so blessed to have found a career I love, in a town that appreciates and supports quality Emergency Medicine. Honestly, I don’t know if the community realizes the quality of service that have and support. You all should be extremely proud of your Emergency Medical Services.
