Community members are invited to attend one of two workshops scheduled for 10 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Monday, June 12, on the LCC campus which is located at 3149 Oak St. Prior teaching experience is not required, but extensive knowledge, experience and passion in the instructor’s sub- ject area is required. COURTESY PHOTOS Cast members (from left): Maree Beers, Melanie Heard, Jacob Ternyik, Wendy Krause and Jake Molano Class Act Theatre (CAT) has announced the cast members for the upcoming production of “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” directed by David Lauria. This fast-paced musical comedy will star Maree Beers (who is also the musical direc- tor), Melanie Heard (who is also the choreographer), Jacob Ternyik, Wendy Krause and Jake Molano. Each actor plays multiple parts depicting stages of rela- tionships from first crush to the funeral home. The well-written script is witty, funny, wicked and touching. Beers is a local jazz singer, musical director of CROW and has appeared on stage locally in“Chicago,” “Les Miserables,” “Cabaret” and “Joseph and The Technicolor Dream Coat.” Local theater goers know Heard as the artistic director of Children’s Repertory of Oregon Workshop (CROW), as co-owner of Poison Pen Players, and in her most recent role on stage in “Cabaret.” Ternyik recently performed in “The Addams Family” and, before that, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “Shrek,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Cabaret,” and “Chicago,” as well as being an actor for Poison Pen Players. Krause has previously starred in local productions of “Li’l Abner,” “Sugar” and “Holly Jolly Follies,” and is now returning to the stage after taking a short sabbatical from performance. This is Molano’s second venture onstage, but he impressed audiences with his acting and singing talents as “Gomez” in “The Addams Family.” “ I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” will be at Class Act Theatre for six perform- ances, June 16 through 18, and June 23 through 25. The Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Admission for the show is $18 for general or $16 for sen- iors and military. The only requirements are a clean driving record and being under the age of 80. Friends of Florence drivers provide free transportation, Monday through Friday, for cancer patients seeking treat- ment at health care facilities in the valley. Volunteer drivers regularly transport patients needing radiation treatment to the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute in Eugene or to the Matt Oregon Urology Center in Springfield. Volunteer drivers leave Peace Harbor Hospital at approximately 8 a.m. and are usually back in Florence between noon and 1 p.m. There is no charge to those recieving medical treatment for this shuttle service. Volunteer drivers usually only drive one day each month, unless additional shifts are requested.
