And while it’s his gold-colored hair that may distinguish him in the school hallways, it’s his historic triple crown achievement of sweep- ing the OWA’s Folk, Freestyle and Greco competitions that have made him a standout in wrestling circles. According to coach Stecher Buss, he’s believed to be the first wrestler in Siuslaw history — at any level — to claim the championship in all three wrestling styles. “I talked with (Siuslaw High School coach) Neil Wartnik about it, and neither of us can recall anyone getting a triple crown,” said Buss. “So it’s a pretty big deal.” Sissel, who wrestles in th 103- pound bracket, first won the Folk- style title last January at the Oregon Classic, where he competed against wrestlers from all over the See CROWN 4B S PORTS B ASEBALL /S OFTBALL FWL B OYS N. B END 10:30 A . M . AT Most of the North Coast lakes were stocked with trout this week. Water temps are great and fish should be hungry. So far this season, Town Lake near Pacific City has been stocked with nearly 200 surplus summer steel- head from Cedar Creek Hatchery. In addition, 66 early run winter steelhead were released there on Jan. 11. Nehalem Hatchery released 200 surplus winter steelhead into Vernonia pond, 57 into Lost Lake and 60 into Lake Lytle. These fish get fairly active in the lake and offer a unique fishing experience, especially when the rivers are blown out. Once in the lake they are considered “trout” and do not require a Combined Angling Tag. Anglers are reminded, however, that only one trout per day over 20 inch- es may be retained, and these fish will almost all be in that size range. The 2017 trout stocking schedule is available online. MHS TRACK MWL DISTRICTS M C K ENZIE 10:30 A . M .
