She head- ed down the rainbow road being greeted by many Dorothy family mem- Martin bers on April 14, 2017. She spent the majority of her life on Fiddle Creek raising her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; daugh- ters Shawneen Kay and Carrie. She is survived by her life partner John Hans; daughters Tanya Martin (Shawneen, Paul, Adam and Maritza), Radeena Lee (Robert, Cassidy, Sierra and Kenny); Tina Smith (Leo, Krista and Bridget); and many great-grandchildren. On April 1, family and friends gathered at “the ranch” to celebrate and honor Dorothy’s life. No further services will be held. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. RIGGS—Florence Alma Riggs, 86, passed away peace- fully March 5, 2017, at Hubbard’s Retreat in Florence Ore., of an age-related illness. She was born Jan. 29, 1931, to William and Blanche Beavers in Brainerd, Minn. She enjoyed fishing, camp- ing and was an avid book read- er — but most of all enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her four children. She is survived by her hus- band of 69 y e a r s , Russell, who resides at the fami- ly home; a Florence Riggs s o n , Douglas L. Riggs of Florence; a daughter, Barbara Howard of McCleary Wash.; A sister Joan Hendricks of Aberdeen, Wash.; 10 grand- children and 19 great-grand- children. Two children, son Russell and daughter Linda, preceded Florence in death. A celebration of life will be held May 6, at the Elks club in Florence, from 1 to 4 p.m. Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. AUSTIN—Raymond L. Austin, 84, of Florence, for- merly of Coos Bay, died April 21, 2017. Services will be announced and held at a later date this summer. Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel. PHILLIPS—Donald Edgar Phillips, 71, of Florence, passed away April 21, 2017. A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw at a later date. Accident, without injury, was reported at Milepost 18 on Highway 126. Burglary was reported in the 1900 block of 25th Street. Dispute was reported in the 4600 block of Joshua Lane. Accident, without injury, was reported in the 800 block of Highway 101. April 24 Arrest, with warrant was reported in the 1000 block of Highway 101. Criminal mischief was reported in the 1700 block of Highway 126. Arrest, with warrant, was reported in the 1800 block of Oak Street. Child abuse was reported in the 1700 block of 43rd Street.
