Track from 1B Reavis’ mark of 49-9 in the shot on Friday was also the winning throw. Given that Reavis is only a junior, there’s a distinct possi- bility he could be the first Viking in school history to complete a sweep of the throws by next year should he add another 14 feet to his current PR-javelin throw of 164-7.5 set at this year’s Oregon Relays — a mark that earned him the No. 5 spot on Siuslaw’s all-time list. The current record in the javelin (IAAF) is 177-9, set by Kody Reavis in 2008. However, freshman Ryan Rendon-Padilla could chal- lenge that sweep after coming Tuesday 4/18 within 2 inches of Reavis in the javelin on Friday, with Rendon Padilla landing at 156-10. It wasn’t just in the throws that Siuslaw had a standout performance on Friday. Senior distance runner and defending state champion in the 800 meters Destinie Tatum clocked the Oregon 4A’s best time of the season in 2 minutes, 23.58 seconds to win the event in her season debut. Tatum cur- rently holds the school record in the event with her time of 2:17.62, which was set at the same meet last season. On Friday, Tatum also leaped the day’s best high jump mark at 4-6. Meanwhile, senior thrower Carissa Oliver nabbed the title in two events at the CCI, throwing 40-4 in the shot put and 134-1 in the discus. Oliver also threw a personal best of 103-11 in the javelin to place third overall. Other top finishers from Friday’s meet included: Senior hurdler Clark Hooper personal- record time of 41.91 for the win in the boys 300-meter hur- dles, then running 16.04 in the high hurdles for second place; senior Jack Pickell finished second in the 3,000 meters with a PR at 9:28.48 for the third- fastest time in the 4A this sea- son; sophomore Madison Reynolds placed second to Oliver in the shot put with a mark of 33-9.5; and senior Ryan Alletson landed a person- al record in the high jump with a leap of 5-4 to tie for second.
