As a literary support group open to all aspiring and experi- enced writers, it provides con- versation, mentorship, educa- tion and literary events in an inspiring atmosphere. Friends of Florence Van Fans serve community Each weekday the Friends of Florence van offers a free shuttle service for cancer patients receiving radiation treatments from health centers in the Willamette Valley, driv- ing from Florence to Eugene and Springfield. For more than 30 years, the van has transported nearly 30,000 patients to their radia- tion treatments at the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center in Eugene and Oregon Urology Institute in Springfield. The volunteer-driven van, which relies on individual contributions and Van Fans fundraisers to cover costs of gas and upkeep, stops for patients in Florence, Maple- ton, Walton, Noti and Veneta.
