SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 2017 7 A FUUF to offer classes CROW shows what it means ‘To Be An Addams’ on Metaphysical Energy Don Mattison will be shar- ing his understanding of what Metaphysical Phenomenon and psychic awareness is in an upcoming class, beginning Wednesday, April 12, at 4 p.m. He believes, “This aware- ness is available to anyone who wants to take the time to learn and practice these won- derful gifts.” Mattison started wondering and searching in his late teens, reading and going to any class that he could find that spoke to these issues. In the seventies he went to the Science of Mind church led by Pastor Damien Simpson, located in Long Beach, CA. There he learned the art of using energy to heal and this has become a very important part of his life today. Mattison is currently a member of the Metaphysical Group at the Florence Unitarian Universalist Fellow- ship and will participate as one of the instructors in some classes soon to be offered. These classes will be held at FUUF and are offered to con- gregants as well as anyone from the Florence and sur- rounding areas. The first classes offered will be on seeing auras, “the energy fields” that surround each one of us. Military museum announces heritage day The Oregon Coast Military Museum is hosting a Military Heritage Day on Saturday, April 22, starting at 2 p.m., at Sam Spayd’s hangar at the Florence Municipal Airport. The speaker for this event is Col. Jay Murphy, USAF (Ret) who flew the legendary SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance air- craft during the 1970s and ’80s until his retirement in 1987. Murphy then went on to work in the same program at the Lockheed “Skunk Works,” which originally designed and built the aircraft. He will share information about the operation of the air- plane, such as the harrowing experience when both engines failed at 74,000 feet altitude flying Mach 3. He will also share informa- tion about the preparation and ground crew efforts it takes to keep the Blackbird airborne. The event will start at 2 p.m. with light refreshments being offered. Seating will be limited so it suggested those interested in attending visit the museum’s new website and RSVP for the event at www.oregoncoastmilitary museum.com. There is no admission charge, however donations will be appreciated. The museum, 2145 Kingwood St., is open to the public Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
