R. Gurney’s timeless cla- ssic, “Love Letters”. This is the story of two lifelong friends, Andy and Melissa, who stay connected through 60 years of letters; revealing much about their lives, families, values, and enduring friendship. Gurney tenderly crafts their relation- ship with great humor and abiding love as Andy and Melissa transition from child- hood, teenage years, college, professional endeavors, to mature adulthood. Director Robbie Schoonover has cast the two roles of Andy and Melissa with three sets of actors portraying the couple. “This is an oppor- tunity to engage our local audiences with different renditions of the same show,” Schoonover says. “Each couple portrays Andy and Melissa with personal inter- pretations that make this play even more powerful.” “Love Letters” opens on Friday, April 7 with a dinner theatre benefit for the Yachats Youth and Family Mapleton Lions to host pie auction, bazaar The Mapleton Lions Spring Bazaar and Pie Auction will be held Saturday, April 8, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Mapleton Lions Club. Tables for the bazaar can be rented for $35. Participants set up, sell and keep the profits. Proceeds from table rentals and donations for this event go to support the efforts to repair, retrofit and re-open the Siuslaw Regional Aquatics and Recreation Center (SRAC,) also known as the Mapleton Pool..
