If any- thing, it should signal opportu- nity because no single compa- ny is offering a product that meets the needs of every con- sumer. You can be a very com- petitive business just by adding value to a product that already exists,” said RAIN Coastal Venture Catalyst David Youngentob. The Eugene startup Bluprint developed LightLock as a real- life solution for bicyclists look- ing for a better way to protect their bikes and bike acces- sories. The lock detaches into two pieces. One half mounts on the handlebars and the other under the seat to become head- lights and taillights. When rid- ers reach their destination they can reattach the two halves around the bike, securing their lights, lock and bicycle. For more information, visit www.bluprintbike.com. Every other week during the 12-week pre-accelerator pro- gram, RAIN will host a veteran entrepreneur to discuss a par- ticular startup topic. These pre- sentations are for small busi- ness owners, entrepreneurs, managers, students and anyone interested in learning more about how to launch and grow a business in Florence. The remaining events in the series tentatively include: • April 12: TBA • April 26: Josh Fegles, Academic and Government Channel Sales Director at Palo Alto Software — financials, scaling and business models. • May 17: Ty Manegold, Founder of Roam Fitness — team building, leadership and company culture. • May 31: Joe Maruschak, Chief Startup Officer for RAIN Eugene — Pitching. Each speaker event will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at Oregon Pacific Bank. The Florence pre-accelerator program concludes on June 14 with an open-to-the-public Demo Day exhibition and graduation.
