SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2017 OBITUARIES BALLARD—It greatly saddens us to announce the passing of John Ballard, who passed away M o n d a y, March 6, 2017. John was born July 20, 1963. He is sur- vived in life John Ballard by his lov- ing wife, Kimberly Allen-Ballard; their four children: Tia Allen, Athina Sutton, Jeremy Webb and Rocky Gillam; his four grandchildren: Sammy Allen, Kayla Whitaker, Richard Penny Jr. (Bubba) and Kristina Penny; and his loving mother- in-law, Virgie Carter. The family will be having a small, private celebration of life at his home in Bogata, Texas, where he will forever rest. KRUSE—Richard Lee Kruse, 89, of Florence, passed away March 6, 2017. Richard was born June 14, 1927, in Grand Island, Neb., and had lived in the Florence area for many years. He was a veteran and served in the South Pacific. Richard loved biking, hik- ing, exercise programs and to travel. He enjoyed the out- doors and loved gardening, fishing and crabbing. At his request, private cre- mational rites were held through Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home. COURTS Florence Municipal Court Feb. 28 Andrew Thomas Zuffi pleaded guilty to reckless driv- ing. He must pay $600 in fines and not have offensive contact with the victims. His driver’s license is suspended for 90 days and he must report to stu- dents. March 7 Kathy Sue Shykes pleaded no contest to attempted pos- session of a controlled sub- stance. She must pay $700 in fines. Johnny Frederik Rollin pleaded guilty to hit and run, reckless driving and DUII. He was sentenced to seven days in Florence City Jail and must report to treatment. He must pay $2,430 in fines and not contact or be in or about the residences or places of employment of the victim. Nicole Elizabeth Russell pleaded no contest to harass- ment. He must report to AMP and pay $350 in fines and not contact or be in or about the residence or place of employ- ment of the victim. Correction In the front-page article, “ReVision Florence to require additional funding,” in the March 11, 2017 issue of the Siuslaw News, The article said Councilor Joshua Greene had been in contact with state Sen. Arnie Roblan and state Rep. Caddie McKeown. Councilor Ron Preisler was the person who met with the two politicians. Greene contacted U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio. Siuslaw News regrets the error. POLICE LOG Florence Police March 7 Arrest, with warrant, was reported in the 100 block of Spruce Street. Accident, without injury, was reported in the first block of Bay Street. Theft was reported in the 1200 block of Bay street. Accident, without injury, was reported on North Chestnut Street. Theft was reported in the 1400 block of Spruce Street. Accident, without injury, was reported in the 1400 block of Morrison Street. March 8 Accident, without injury, was reported at milepost 28 on Highway 126. Hit-and-run accident was reported in the 4700 block of Highway 101. Criminal mischief was reported in the 3800 block of Spruce street. Harassment was reported in the 2900 block of Oak Street. March 9 Prowler was reported in the 1000 block of Prestwick Court. Arrest, with warrant, was reported in the 700 block of Maple Street. Burglary was reported in the 1900 block of 17th Street. Death investigation was con- ducted in the 2500 block of 16th Street. Arrest was reported in the 900 block of Greenwood Street. Theft was reported in the 900 block of Highway 101. Arrest, with warrant was reported in the 1500 block of Maple Street. Harassment was reported in the 1600 block of Highway 101. Hit-and-run accident was reported in the Florence area.
