When you partner with the Chamber, you’re partnering with SUCCESS! From the Director’s Desk By Bettina Hannigan Chamber Executive Director Homeowners do it. When a home is purchased with a mortgage, homeowners gain 100% of the appreciation in value. For what…. 10% down? Now that’s leverage. How can you leverage your resources? Take a moment and really think about it. Chamber members receive thousands of dollars’ worth of resources, a Business level Chamber membership is $225, that’s leverage. What resources does your business have to leverage? Money, Time, Connections, Associations, Skills. Take a moment and consider, what does your business need to take it to the next level and what is that level? What is needed to get there? More customers, more space, more staff , more training, more money? How can you develop what you need with what you have? Leverage can be part of the solution. Partnering with a group or organization that has the resources you need is one way of leveraging. Don’t reinvent the wheel when it’s already been done and you can get it at a much reduced rate. Same value, less cost. • Leverage your time. Is there a more effi cient way to accomplish your tasks? Can you delegate more? Are you con- sciously managing your time or letting the tail wag the dog? • Leverage your money. Can you re- source less expensive credit, change payment plans, qualify for free credit, apply for grants? • Leverage your space. Can you split up your inventory shipments while still getting the quantity discount? Do you have space that is mismanaged or extra space? Reorganize, or rent it out and help someone else leverage their project? • Don’t know how to do something? Leverage your connections to learn new skills, partner with others and work together to get educated - online classes, LCC, RAIN. We have the re- sources. • Brainstorm with your business con- nections, how did they leverage their project? Learn eff ectively. Many times I hear from our members and community they need this or that, and I reply the Chamber can help with that. Boom! Here’s your resource. Chamber resources include potential customers, access to local, regional, and global marketing, eff ective communications, education (because, you really don’t know – what you don’t know), web presence, along with over other businesses that have an unknown or unclear reason for being in business.
