Community Suppers House concert series to kick off with Lovejoy
to continue in March
Free Florence Community
Suppers, which began in
February as a way to bring
families and community mem-
bers together, will be continu-
ing into March.
Community Suppers are
held each Wednesday at one of
four local churches and is
sponsored by St. Andrews
Episcopal, New Life Lutheran,
Presbyterian Church of the
Siuslaw and Florence United
Methodist Church.
Suppers for March:
March 1: New Life
Lutheran Church, 21st and
Spruce streets.
March 8: The Presbyterian
Church, 3996 Highway 101.
March 15: United Methodist
Church,
Second
and
Kingwood streets
March 22: The Episcopal
Church, 2136 19th St.
March 29: New Life

Anyone who would like to
join in a friendly meal once a
week is welcome. Donations
towards the cost of the meals
will be accepted but not
required.

and bassist Jeff Lovejoy will be
kicking off the new season of
Kathy Parsons’ house concert
series Wednesday, March 1, at
7 p.m.
Lovejoy has played in
bands, duos and trios for more
than 45 years in Massachusetts,
New York, Maine and
Colorado.
He’s also done solo perform-
ances over the years, ranging
from dance music in clubs to
lighter fare for dinner music.
He generally plays a mix of
songs from the 1960s to 1980s,
mostly laid-back tunes from

Elk’s to present ‘Best
Wurstfest’ today
Today at the Florence Elks
Lodge, there will the “Best
Wurstfest” on the Oregon
Coast, a Bavarian-themed fes-
tival to raise funds for voca-
tional scholarships.
The festival will be held
from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the
Florence Elks Lodge, 1686
12th St.
The public is welcome to
attend this fundraisng event.
Enter through the north door.
The “Best Wurstfest” is
being held inside the Lodge.
Admission is $5, and chil-
dren under age 12 will be
admitted free.
All proceeds from this
event go to fund vocational
scholarships to be awarded to
students in our community.
Come and enjoy the
Bavarian atmosphere.
There will be live German
folk music and dancing, as
well as authentic German food
like bratwurst, beer, wine,
pretzels, apple strudel and
more.
