Tim Friedman, DO, brings experience in obstetrics. After earning a Master of Bioscience from Keck Graduate Institute, Dr. Friedman received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Pacific Northwest University in Washington. He completed his residency at Allegiance Health Family Medicine, where he led group prenatal visits and improved the obstetrics curriculum by introducing educational materi- als. On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Lane County Human Services, along with its nonprofit part- ners, will conduct a PIT count of people who are homeless in Lane County. The annual homeless count reaches throughout the com- munity to people sleeping on the streets, vehicles, parks, camps, and other places not designed for human habita- tion. Emergency shelter and tran- sitional housing programs des- ignated for people who are homeless are also counted. AARP to provide tax help at library beginning Feb. 1 Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1, the AARP Foundation will provide free tax help and preparation for both federal and state taxes for those of all ages with low to moderate income. Help will be available through April 15 without appointment at four locations on the southern Oregon coast, and at a fifth location by appointment only. Assistance in Florence will be offered at the Siuslaw Public Library, 1460 Ninth St.; Monday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested in the serv- ice will need to bring photo ID, Social Security Card for the taxpayer and each depend- ent claimed, 2015 tax returns, and 2016 tax information. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service. The first rehearsal will fol- low immediately afterwards and will continue until 8:30 p.m. All singers from high school age and up are welcome. There is a registration fee of $60 to cover the cost of music and other expenses. Several scholarships are available and may be applied for at registration. High school students will automatically receive scholarships. Community Chorus regular- ly rehearses on Monday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Church. The choir’s next concert will be held the weekend of May 5 to 7. There will be two perform- ances. The concerts will have a sunshine theme. Songs that are being considered for the concert program include, “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” “You Are the Sunshine of My Life,” “The Summer Wind,” a few Beach Boys numbers and many others. The chorus is also seeking volunteers for a number of non-singing roles, such as fundraising, bookkeeping, computer graphics, secretarial, and other administrative tasks.
