COM Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue’s Sutton Lake Fire Station was host to the Twin Lakes’ Giving Tree Christmas party late last month, when presents were distributed to 22 teenagers in the north lakes community. “The teens’ wishlists were really fulfilled,” said Vicky Ambrosio, owner of the Twin Lakes Store and organizer of the Giving Tree project. “Food Baskets and stockings were also made for each teenager. “The difference with our giving tree is each gift and stocking was made just for a specific teen — that’s what makes this so special. To see the eyes light up when they get something they really wanted is priceless.” Ambrosio admitted that, in some cases, she had to go online and Google what some of the items were that teens were asking for. “I’m not into steampunk, Mixels or some of the other specifics things they asked for,” Ambrosio said. “But it felt good to find these things. They loved showing off their new stuff.” Ambrosio said that feedback from parents was especially positive this year. “Many came up to me after- ward and explained how incredible this was to them,” Ambrosio said. “One said she had never seen anything like this in her life. “It is quite emotional to be right in the middle of all that good will,” she said.
