SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2016 Community Chorus offering free community concerts This year the Community Chorus of Florence will be presenting two concerts at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw on Highway 101. Directed by Jennifer Weier, the chorus will perform tradi- tional Christmas songs with presentations by several small- er ensembles, including the Florence Nightingales. Weier will also perform a piano solo, along with per- formances by The 3 A Stuff the Bus for the Boys and Girls Club big success Presbyterian Bell Choir and the Siuslaw Middle School choir. The concerts will take place Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dece. 11, at 2 p.m. Both will be held at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, 3996 Highway 101. KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS MARK BRENNAN/SIUSLAW NEWS Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County collected food, toys and clothing at their Stuff the Bus events on Dec. 2 and 3 at Fred Meyer and Grocery Outlet. The Boys and Girls Club will be collecting items until Dec. 19 for distribution during this holiday season. Collection locations include the Florence Events Center, City Lights Cinemas, Oregon Pacific Bank, PeaceHealth, Les Schwab and Regency Rehabilitation Center. Enroll for healthcare by Dec.15 to be insured by Jan. 1 Affordable Care Act enroll- ment is on the rise as 40,290 Oregonians have already select- ed health plans for 2017. Those who haven’t enrolled yet have a week left to make sure they have health insurance coverage on New Year’s Day. Expert help and financial assistance are available as the deadline looms. Last year, 35,704 Oregonians selected plans in the first four weeks of open enrollment. While open enrollment lasts through Jan. 31, 2017, Oregonians need to apply by Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, to ensure they have coverage on Jan. 1, 2017. Staying enrolled in health insurance is important to protect people from unexpected costs or problems getting the health care they need.
