Florence holiday festival brings Santa, sales, music Florence Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off its annual Holiday Festival today all around Florence. Santa’s arrival, community choruses, food and beverages, hayrides and the official lighting of the 30-foot tree will take place in Historic Old Town with shops and gal- leries open for holiday shop- ping. “Our Old Town area is decked-out for the holidays,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bettina Hannigan. “I believe it’s the best Historic Old Town on the coast and there will be lots to see and do. “The nearby Antique District at Highway 101 and Rhododendron Drive will have a new holiday magic all its own, and there will be more specials at the other great shops all around town.” City from 1A In recognition of Small Business Saturday, the cham- ber has also developed a digi- tal coupon book for shoppers with great deals from cham- ber members. “People can find it on our webpage and Facebook event page. The list of specials will be downloadable so shoppers can print it out or present it on their electronic device for big savings all over Florence,” said Hannigan. Holiday festivities will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., with many sales and stores having extended hours. In addition, there will be the Siuslaw Choir, individual singers and carolers at Gazebo Park and Siuslaw Interpretive Center on Bay Street. Community members are invited to sing along with the carolers. Santa will arrive at 3:30 p.m. at Gazebo Park on Bay Street, courtesy of Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue. He will be available for photos. Free hot cider and cocoa will be available to everyone at Gazebo Park while it lasts. Enjoy free hay rides from 3:30 to 6 p.m. along Bay Street between Port of Siuslaw and the former Lotus Restaurant parking lots. The evening will end with the official tree lighting at about 5:30 p.m., when Mayor Joe Henry will lead the count- down and light the tree at Siuslaw Interpretive Center.
