Musical penguins and light- ed reindeer, as well as an assortment of many whimsical and fine music boxes, train sets, toys, stuffed animals and dolls are available There are even sweaters and caps for your favorite pup. This year’s location is larger and more spacious than before and is packed full of specialty china and dinnerware, cookie jars, candy dishes and serving pieces, mugs and glassware. There is a large assortment of Christmas cards, gift wrap and bows in every color, arts and craft materials, bells, lights and ornaments, wreaths and Christmas trees. A large assortment of women’s sparkling evening gowns perfect for the holiday season just arrived, and there is also warm day wear such as sweaters, shirts, caps and mit- tens. The Christmas Store is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The store will be closed Thanksgiving Day. LCC Florence hosts winter term open house Get a sneak peek of the Continuing Education courses and programs planned for the winter term during Lane Community College Florence Center’s open house from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at 3149 Oak St. The event is a preview of the Continuing Education pro- gram’s coming attractions and an opportunity to ask ques- tions about what’s ahead in the winter term, said Marsha Sills, the Florence Center’s continu- ing education program coordi- nator. “This is a chance to come and hear firsthand about new classes and the trips we’ll take in the upcoming term,” Sills said. “We’ve also invited our instructors to come and share information and take students’ questions.” She said some new classes this term include web design, advertising design, theatrical makeup techniques, handcraft- ing and oral history tech- niques. Classes at City Lights Cinemas will also continue with a look at the life and films of a particularly dapper humanitarian. The Outward Ventures pro- gram also features some new and familiar trips with coastal explorations planned. “People will have to come and find out who they can watch and learn about at City Lights and where we’re head- ed along the coast,” Sills said. “We’ll also continue our prac- tice of door prizes and offering a chance to win a $50 credit to use toward registration.” Sills said those who can’t attend can find a full copy of the Continuing Education win- ter term schedule in the Dec. 3 edition of the Siuslaw News. Winter term registration begins Dec. 6. “We ask that students regis- ter as soon as they’re able and invite them to campus starting Dec. 6, if they need help with the online registration sys- tem,” Sills said. “We have computers in our lobby avail- able for student registration and we’re also here to guide students if they'd like help with the registration process.” See’s Candy to be available from Kiwanis Club Dec. 2 The Kiwanis Club of Florence is once again selling See’s Candy at the Sears store on Highway 101 from Dec. 2 through Dec 21, or until the candy runs out. The Kiwanis Club has set up a candy display in the Florence Sears showroom, at Sixth Street and Highway 101, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. This year’s candy selection includes 1 and 2 lb. boxes of assorted chocolates, nuts and chews, lollipops and more.
