the pirates’ life in Last Resort Player’s production
of “Pirates of Penzance,” playing Nov. 4 to 13 at
Florence Events Center, 715 Quince St.
Presented by Last Resort Players with special arrangement
through Music Theater International, the story concerns
Frederic who, having completed his 21st year, is released
from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates.
He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley,
and the two young people fall instantly in love.
However, Frederic learns he only has a birthday each leap
year, and that he must serve the Pirates of Penzance for
another 63 years. Bound by his own sense of duty, Frederic’s

Pink Martini!
S
eacoast Entertainment Association will kick off the holiday
season Nov. 18 and 19 with Pink Martini, co-produced by
SEAcoast and the Friends of the Florence Event Center.
This unique “little orchestra” has won international acclaim and
its first Florence appearance generating considerable interest on the
coast and in the valley, selling out in record time.
“The FEC box office got daily calls for Pink Martini tickets,” said
Linda Gargis, president of Seacoast Entertainment.

SEAcoast’s 2017 season begins with Joe Trio on Saturday, Jan.
21, at 7 p.m., bringing their humor, versatility and wit to the FEC
stage. The three tremendously musical, classically trained players
(piano, cello, and violin) will bring all a fresh appreciation for the
standard concert repertoire (think “Beethoven meets The Pink
Panther”) while entertaining the audience with humor and spon-
taneity.
