I have worked at the Siuslaw News for 39 years and have recently decided to retire. My work has consisted of creating display advertising and section covers, plus merging the work of our news staff with that of the advertising depart- ment. My final responsibility is to finalize the pages and send them on to be printed at our press plant in Coos Bay. I also have a home-based business named Echo Graphics. I do much of the same things as I have done at the Siuslaw News... mostly busi- ness materials such as cards and brochures, plus posters, flyers and advertisements. Recently I have written two books illustrat- ed with my own watercolors. The first is Grandma’s Window Shade, loosely written around my childhood. My second book is A Skunk In The Garden- a children’s book dealing with prejudice and the importance of acceptance. After my retirement at the ‘Snews’ Richard and I plan to enjoy time with our family and to do some light travelling. Also, I am a crafter so I will be dedicat- ing much of my time exploring the possibilities of what I can create next!
