Give art for the holidays KB Gallery to feature JoAnne Chartier artwork
The Florence Events Center
Gallery Committee, as part of
the Friends of Florence, is
offering a new and exciting
event for this holiday season.
During the month of
December, an exhibit will be
offered to the public featuring
artwork from local artists, all
priced at under $100.
Local artists are encouraged
to submit original pieces —
paintings, photographs or 3-D
art — they would like to offer
for sale at this special holiday
exhibit.
An application fee of $10
will be charged artists to hang
up to three pieces of art. All
hanging guidelines will apply.
As space is limited,
advanced sign-up is required
and will be accepted on a first-
come-first-serve basis.
The FEC will retain a 25
percent commission on items
sold, and all sales are final.
More details will be in the
October Center Stage, but this
advanced notice will give all
artists ample time to start cre-
ating.
The community is invited to
a reception on Sunday, Dec.
11, from 3 to 6 p.m., where
exhibiting artists will sell
prints and cards.
Santa will be at the recep-
tion and the FEC Gallery
Committee will be offering to
taker photos of children, fami-
lies and all people young at
heart for a small fee.
Admission is free.

“In my proclamation in September, I urged citizens to increase
their awareness of this very serious problem for our society as a
whole, and especially for the children in the families involved, and
to express their support for ending domestic violence. I was very
proud to proclaim October as ‘Domestic Violence Awareness Month’
and I thank all of the sponsors of this event for their support.”

M AYOR OF F LORENCE
“It is well established that people find domestic violence uncom-
fortable to talk about, yet it is so prevalent. If you want to solve a
problem, you have to define it. It is a wonderful thing that our city
acknowledges the impact this issue has on our citizens. It makes it
easier for people to report and get help, and know they are support-
ed by the greater community.”
