United Way of Lane
County’s Annual Day of Caring
will be happening across Lane
County on Thursday, Sept. 22.
One painting project will be
held at Mapleton School
District from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
with lunch provided.
Paint and materials will also
be provided.
Superintendent Jodi O’Mara
said, “Even if you can only stay
for a little while, we welcome
all volunteers.”
“This year’s Day of Caring
is a true testament to the power
volunteers have to transform
our community,” said Julie
DiBiase, volunteer engagement
coordinator at United Way of
Lane County. “Local nonprof-
its have reported in with a
record level of project needs
and our community is stepping
up to make an even larger
impact.”
Brandy Rodtsbrooks, direc-
tor of marketing and communi-
cations, said, “For the first
time, at least that we can find
on record all the way back to
1995, the United Way of Lane
County’s Day of Caring has a
project in the Florence area. We
are beyond thrilled that we
have a great project there in
Mapleton.”
Day of Caring is an annual
day of volunteering facilitated
by United Way of Lane County
since the early 1990s. Each
year, it works to coordinate
partners across the nonprofit,
public and private sectors for
one incredible day of giving
back to the community through
volunteerism.
The event takes place each
September and helps to pro-
mote the importance of a con-
nected community.
This year’s Day of Caring
has grown to include five
cities, 783 volunteers, 43 par-
ticipating companies and 36
nonprofit partners.
Altogether, the hours total
2,984, with a monetary value of
approximately $70,303.
United Way of Lane County
works to support the education,
financial stability and health of
every person in our communi-
ty. It brings together the pas-
sionate individuals and organi-
zations that have the knowl-
