Helen, who had celebrated
her 106th birthday this year,
was still putting her many tal-
ents to use by crocheting lap
blankets for Spruce Point Care
Unit guests and afghans for
veterans at the hospital in
Roseberg, Ore.
Many crib blankets were
made for the Florence
Parenting Center.
She enjoyed creating items
for her daughter Kat’s boutique
in Florence, and creating jewel-
ry for family and friends. She
especially enjoyed the time she
was able to don her lovely hats
and join her Red Hat Ladies in
their outings and get-togethers.
She was featured on the
“Today Show” as part of
Willard Scott’s birthday tribute
and received a special card
from President and Mrs.
Obama on the occasion of her
100th birthday.
Helen was a lady who will
be greatly missed.
Funeral arrangements are
being handled by Burns’s
