Deuter’s works show expertise in graphite pencil, colored pencils, oils, and pastels. Deuter became inter- ested in the Native American People through the pho- tographic works of Edward Curtis. After leaving California in 1977, Deuter settled in Rapid City, S.D., which brought her in touch with local Pow Wows in South Dakota and Montana, as well as ranching events, rodeos and state fairs. She is self-taught, and uses her own photographs for reference material. Deuter’s artworks have been published in magazines, a children’s book and they hang in many private and corporate collections in the Northern Plains states.
