Old Town Coffee displays Pinnock art OCHS sells burgers, hot dogs Saturday
Cheryl Lynn Pinnock is
showing her latest collection of
a whimsical look at life with
photo manipulation at Old
Town Coffee Co. and Gallery
through July.
Pinnock is a native
Oregonian who, with her hus-
band of 38 years, raised her
family in Florence. She loves
hiking and kayaking with her
family and friends, which
gives her that special connec-
tion with the art she creates.
Her artistic direction is paint-
ing, photography, crafting or
anything “artsy.”
Her latest “steering” has
been working with photos.
This allows her the extra time
she needs for volunteering.
Pinnock has been involved

hot-off-the-grill will be avail-
able on Saturday, July 16, in
the Grocery Outlet parking lot
during the Power of Florence
event.
This event, from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m., raises money to help pro-
vide care for the once-home-
less cats and dogs awaiting a
home at the Oregon Coast
Humane Society (OCHS).
This month’s event includes
the “Stuff The Van” fundraiser
to accept donations of pet food
for families who cannot afford
to feed their companion ani-
mals.
Inside Grocery Outlet,
adoptable cats with OCHS vol-
unteers will be the main attrac-
tion. These volunteers also
offer information about OCHS
services.

On Saturday, July 16, from
10 a.m. to noon at the south end
of Siuslaw Elementary School,
2221 Oak St., there will be a
plant sale to benefit the school’s
gardens.
This is the program’s third
growing season at the Siuslaw
School Gardens. With the help
of garden coordinator Lyza
Houlihan, students have suc-
cessfully harvested food from
the gardens for students to eat in
the cafeteria.
Houlihan has also established
a composting system, where
food waste from the cafeteria is
being used to create food for the
plants.
Kids involved with the Boys
and Girls Club summer pro-
gram and the summer school
program have been caring for
the garden this summer.
During the school year, many
of the classes are involved in
planting, weeding, harvesting
and composting.
The garden provides students
with the opportunity to develop
a relationship with their food,
from seed to table.
The Siuslaw School Garden
is currently seeking to expand
by purchasing a greenhouse for

the building renovations and future programs for the CROW kids!
2:00 Siuslaw HS Choir will be singing for the residents at Elderberry Square. h is is a program
that they hope to continue doing throughout the school year.

electronics. Laptops, cell phones, GPS, cameras, etc. are all accepted no matter their
condition.
11:00-4:00 Habitat for Humanity donations: Clean out your own garage and bring in
donations of used i xtures, sinks, faucets, windows, doors, etc. lighting, scrap lumber,
plumbing parts, and so much more.
11:00 - 3:00 Isaac’s Clothing Drive- 9 year old Isaac will collect clothing for the Siuslaw
School District’s homeless student closet. Please bring gently used or new clothing to
donate.
11:00-2:00 KXCR Radio- h e Florence non-proi t radio will be informing people on what
they do.
11:00- 3:00 Little Free Library- Collecting books for Florence’s Little Free Libraries
11:00 - 2:00 Florence Area Community Coalition and the Friends of Honeyman State Park-
Giving out brochures and sharing about their work and volunteering opportunities.
