The large wooden play set was generously donated by Ken and Kristy Larson. When school director Kristi Ryan heard about the donation, she quickly enlisted the help of parents, staff and friends to move the large structure. The next morning, the chil- dren were delighted to find a new slide, swings and climb- ing apparatus in their play- ground. “We’re so grateful to Ken and Kristy Larson, this is an important donation to our school,” said Ryan. “Our older play equipment was becoming damaged by the weather and in need of replacement. The kids love the new play structure. “It allows for more fun sensory feedback. That movement during break time enhances the student’s ability to learn and focus. We feel really blessed by this dona- tion to our school.” Bright Beginnings Christian Preschool has openings for summer session beginning July 5 and continu- ing through August. There are also spaces available for the Fall 2016 session. For information, contact Ryan at 541-999-0783 or at bbcp@yahoo.com. Superintendent, Power of Florence on KCST ‘Our Town’ today An exit interview with the outgoing school superintend- ent, back to back to a conver- sation with her successor, will anchor today’s edition of Coast Radio’s “Our Town,” from 4 to 6 p.m. on KCST 106.9 FM. Ethel Angal wrapped up a four-decade career in educa- tion last week when she stepped down after two years as the top administrator at Siuslaw. Her successor, Andy Gzreskowiak, has been in the 97J school district for 20 years. He was chosen by the school board in April to replace Angal. This week’s program will also feature conversations with the manager of the animal shelter at the Oregon Coast Humane Society (OCHS). After 20 years, it changed its name from the Florence Area Humane Society (FAHS) to more accurately reflect the area they service. Also on the docket in Our Town will be information about two upcoming benefit events: The annual Power of flOreNcE day is set for Saturday, July 16. Organizer and high school junior Kaylee Graham and her designated successor, Ava Glowacki, will talk about all of the events scheduled for that day. Also in the studio will be Bobbie Harris, the chair of the American Cancer Society Florence Relay for Life, which is coming up Aug. 13 and 14 at Miller Park. It’s all sponsored by Andy Baber of Edward Jones Investments; Holloway and Associates CPAs; the Archives Photo Restoration Specialists, Lane Community College in Florence, Siuslaw Public Library and PeaceHealth. Our Town airs on KCST, FM 106.9, the first Wednesday of each month between 4 and 6 p.m., then again the next morning on KCFM, AM1250- FM 104.1, from 10 a.m. to noon.
