6 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2016 Steampunk show extended at KB Art Studios Gigi Lassan and Giuliano Marchetti’s highly successful steampunk show titled “PICT.up.ART” has been held over through Tuesday, July 5, due to popular demand. The exhibit marked the reopening of the gallery por- tion of Kenneth B Art Studios in Old Town Florence, and nearly 200 people, including state Sen. Arnie Roblan and Florence Mayor Joe Henry, were in attendance at the open- ing reception May 14. Owner SK Lindsey states, “I could not be more pleased. This was an unusual situation where I had to abandon both artists at the very last minute to work out of state. Both Gigi and Giuliano were left to their own devises to pull this off. They not only curated the show, but Gigi had to manage the reception presentation and all aspects of the gallery while I was away. “And to top that off, we decided to bump the creative element up a notch by not merely hanging an exhibit but an entire installation. Each artist had to turn the entire gallery space into an engaging visual experience for the view- er. Gigi and Giuliano hit it out of the ballpark.” YACHATS — Portland's Blue Owens Band will again return to Yachats for the Fourth of July on Monday. The band will play outside in the Yachats Underground Pub and Grub Beer Garden, 125 Oceanview Drive, where the La De Da parade ends and the music begins. The music will play between 1 and 4 p.m. Blue Owens will be on harp, T-Bone Welden will play gui- tar and sing, Michael MorningSun will play bass, Mark VanRyzin will play the Hammond keys organ and Greg Shoven will play drums. The Yachats Underground Core Band will follow with local guest favorites from the Thursday Night Core Jam. For more information, call 541-547-4600. COURTESY PHOTOS Artwork by Giuliano Marchetti (left) and Gigi Lassan (right) will be on display through July 5 at Kenneth B Art Studios in Old Town Florence. Since the opening of the show, the gallery has increased its social media interest list well over 25 percent, and the gallery’s weekly attendance by individuals outside Florence has nearly doubled. Giuliano Marchetti is well known among regional steam- punk artists and has previously shown work at the Silver Lining Gallery in Florence and New Zone Gallery in Eugene. In “PICT.up.ART,” Marchetti exhibits several new pieces that feature his distinctive style and sense of humor in sculptural pieces that are often hung on walls. Gigi Lassan is well known throughout the community for her amazing steampunk jewel- ry, where she incorporates found objects that are elegantly designed as high-fashion wear- able art with her “Avec le Temps” collection. Her jewelry is also sold at Bonjour Boutique on Bay Street. In “PICT.up.ART,” Lassan displays her wearable art in a variety of uniquely designed bird cages, hauntingly adorned shadow frames filled with dolls against abstract paintings. For information regarding upcoming shows from resident artist Tamarah Phillips for the month of July and local artist Sam Dantone for the months of August and September, visit the Kenneth B Art Studios website KennethBGallery.com or call 541-999-5875. Resident artists open the gallery most days of the week throughout the summer.
