iuslaw Middle School Junior Thespians
explored the characters of Dr. Change, The
Clump and Hoodie during three shows of
the vignette play “Hoodie,” by Lindsay Price. More
than 30 actors performed monologues and group
sketches about fitting in, standing out, clothing
choices and what exactly they wear under their
hoodies. One vignette portrayed a modern version
of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New
Clothes.” Students also ran the show backstage
and helped with the design of the set, lights and
sound. Eddie Mielke, drama instructor for Siuslaw
Middle and High schools, directed the show.
Local award-winning photog featured at FRAA
The public is invited to the
second annual fine art photog-
raphy exhibit featuring Ken
McDougal
at
Florence
Regional Arts Alliance’s
(FRAA) Art Center, 120 Maple
St. in Old Town Florence.
Come view the photographic
works of McDougal, an award
winning nature, scenic and
wildlife photographer.
Attendees will have the
opportunity to meet McDougal,
as well as have the opportunity
to view or purchase some of his
photographs.
Along with his larger wall
prints, he will also be offering
many of his smaller, matted
and hand-signed images, as
well as his own line of photo
greeting cards and photo T-
shirts.
An artist reception will be
held Friday, June 17, from 3 to
d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic
refreshments will be served.
Thanks to a large social
media following, last year’s
event brought visitors from as
far away as Portland, Eugene
and Coos Bay.
The show is open to the pub-
lic and there is no admission
fee to this event, but donations
are welcomed.
For more information, visit
McDougal’s website at www.
KenMcDougal.com.
For more information about
the exhibit, call the FRAA Art
