SEAcoast 2016-17 season offers Pink Martini FLORENCE — SEAcoast Entertain- ment Association has announced its 2016- 2017 season line up. “Since its beginning 36 years ago, SEA has brought top quality performers to Florence audiences,” said Linda Gargis, SEA board vice-president. “This upcom- ing season continues that tradition. We have seven fantastic shows, including midweek concerts, plus a new ‘Dinner and a Show’ package available for season ticket holders.” In the new season, four of SEA’s con- certs will be held on Wednesday nights with a nod to the increased weekend demands in the Florence community. “SEA is a big supporter of the Florence Events Center (FEC),” said Gargis. “By scheduling Wednesday shows, we are not only helping keep the FEC active mid- week, we were able to book several acts that would have been unavailable on weekends due to scheduling, travel issues and cost.” The season opens Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, with “Cantus,” one of the premier vocal groups in the United States. This all-male ensemble will highlight the camaraderie, bonding and honor of the Armed Forces. SEA will partner with local veterans groups to help set the tone for Veterans Day. The holiday season kicks off Nov. 18 with the incom- parable musical group Pink Martini. Oregon’s own “little orchestra” will provide two performances at the FEC: Friday, Nov. 18, as part of the SEA season, and again on Saturday, Nov. 19, in partner- ship with the Friends of the Florence Events Center. SEA season ticket holders will have reserved seats for Nov. 18 as part of the regular season ticket package. Single tickets for the Friday or Saturday shows Pink Martini will perform Nov. 18-19 in Florence will be $49. Joe Trio will entertain on Jan. 21, 2017, appreciation for the standard concert bringing their humor, versatility and wit to repertoire (think “Beethoven meets The the FEC stage. The three tremendously Pink Panther”) while entertaining the musical, classically trained players (piano, audience with humor and spontaneity. Celebrate Mardi Gras a couple of days cello, and violin) will bring all a fresh early with “Bri Skonberg’s New Orleans Jazz Band” during a Sunday afternoon tea dance Feb. 26, 2017, with preferred seat- ing for season ticket holders. SEA is providing Florence fans of brass with a much needed dose of energy with the Dallas Brass on March 29, 2017. The quintet masters all aspects of the brass repertoire: classical, Dixieland, swing, show tunes and more as they provide a musical travelogue through American instrumental history.
