which time he and his wife,
Deborah, moved to Florence.
Pete served in the U.S.
Army, had a lengthy love
affair with scuba diving, was
a member of the Florence

ing been a member of the

BROWN —Gertrude
“Bobbie” Brown, 95, of
Florence, passed away May

Elderberry
Square.
S h e
maintained
her
inde-
pendence at
home until a
week before
falling ill,
Gertrude
as per her
Brown
strong wish-
es.
Bobbie was born April 6,
1921, in Long Beach, Calif.
After completing high school,
she was a riveter at
Consolidated-Vultee Aircraft
during World War II.
Her 1942 marriage to Bob
Brown was delayed due to the
bombing of Pearl Harbor,
where he was on the USS
Honolulu on its way home.
Bob passed away Jan. 11,
2012; they had been married
71 years.
After the birth of her chil-
dren, Gary and Linda, the fam-
ily moved to New York, Ore.,
then on to San Diego, Calif.,
Subic Bay in the Philippines
and back to San Diego. Then
after the kids left home, they
moved to Keflavic, Iceland,
where Bob retired.
They then moved to Keizer,
Ore., Bandon, Ore., and even-
tually Florence, where they
enjoyed retirement.
Bobbie enjoyed her home
and Monday trips to the casino
buffet. She cherished her local
friends and family, especially
Vern and Dee Oremus; with-
out their collective help, she
could not have maintained her
independence.
Bobbie is survived by her
son, Gary, and his wife, Susie;
her granddaughter, Teona
Marston-Brown, and her hus-
band, Christopher, along with
their son, Tanner, all of
Marlborough, Mass.; and her
grandson, Joey Fox, of San
Diego, Calif.
In addition to her husband
Bob, Bobbie was preceded in
death by her daughter, Linda
Fox, mother of Joey.
Bobbie’s greatest asset was
her stubborn independence.
Her greatest joys were her
friends and family. She will be
missed by them far more than
she could ever imagine.
She will be privately
interred with Bob at the
National
Cemetery
at
Roseburg.
This service will be private,
at her request.

“The Nice Guys is an ultra-violent burlesque, the 6:15 PM
sort of cheerfully hostile buddy bash that’s been a 8:50 PM
staple since the ’80s, only this one is singularly
clever about its own triviality, and it offers the
