Meet Marley Marley came into the shelter very emaciated and missing hair due to a bad yeast infection. With good food and medication he is getting better. It is unclear at this time if his hair will ever fully come back. The family had an older dog at one time and they got along well, they were unclear if he would do well with dogs his own age. He has a lot of energy and would do best in a home with children 12 and up. No cats Children 12yrs and up ok If you would like to meet Marley any of his friends, please visit us at: GOOD STUFF SALE Fri 6/3 – Sat 6/4 8am – 4pm 88338 1st Ave Jucier, Furniture, Clothes, Tools, Etc. __________________ Fri 6/3 – Sat 6/4 10am-3pm Sutton Lake Rd Fabulous Moving Sale by Jack. Several state parks will be hosting ODFW Free Fishing Weekend fishing events and waiving park admission and camping fees on “State Parks Day,” this Saturday, June 4. Along with Free Fishing Weekend events taking place on Saturday, June 4, most locations will offer free fishing gear, bait and instruction pro- vided at no charge to partici- pants. Some events will have additional activities for kids and people with disabilities. Near Florence, Cleawox Lake and Honeyman State Park will be offering a special fishing event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, con- tact Christine Clapp, 541-265- 8306, ext. 253. For those who prefer a little more solitude, there are dozens of other lakes, ponds, streams and ocean waters around to explore. Many are listed on ODFW’s website at www.odfw.com under the tab “Free Fishing Weekend.” If fishing isn’t your gig, state parks throughout Oregon are inviting the public to camp and play for free this Saturday, in celebration of State Parks Day. Camping is free the night of June 4 in traditional sites, including full hookup (sewer, electricity and water), electri- cal hookup (electricity and water), and tent sites. femal Athletes of the Year will be announced prior to the evening, with the male and female Athletes of the Year announced that night. The evening will depart from past years in that it will feature desserts and there will be no admission charge. It is open to all who wish to attend and honor all 41 student athletes. The broad array of desserts will be catered by Kyle Lewis and the Culinary Arts Class at Siuslaw; with service provided by the Siuslaw High School Leadership class. Entertainment will be pro- vided by the Siuslaw Cheer Team. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The program will conclude no later than 8:30 p.m. For day trippers, parking is free both June 4 and June 5 at the 26 Oregon parks that charge a day-use parking fee. Campsite reservations may be made by calling 800-452- 5687 before 5 p.m. on June 3, or reserve a spot online at www.oregonstateparks.org. Keep in mind that while the campsite rental is free, an $8 nonrefundable reservation fee still applies. Of the 52 state park campgrounds, 42 take reservations. “State Parks Day is our way of thanking Oregonians for their commitment to our state parks,” said Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Director Lisa Sumption. “We invite Oregonians to come out and explore a new park or visit an old favorite.” The Oregon State Legislature established Oregon State Parks Day in 1997 to focus public attention on Oregon’s state park system. The event is always the first Saturday in June. Parks throughout the state will host activities including guided hikes during National Trails Day, June 4, plus open houses, tours, special barbe- cues and guest appearances by J.R. Beaver, Oregon State Parks’ mascot. The popular Silver Falls State Park, east of Salem, will have free refreshments, a guid- ed waterfall tour and its annu- al Foot Race Challenge, with a 5K, 6-mile and kids’ race. Stub Stewart State Park west of Portland will host a volunteer work party in the morning, followed by free lunch at Hilltop Day-use Area, a guided bike ride, scavenger hunt, skins and skulls display and more. See a fur trappers’ encamp- ment at Champoeg State Heritage Area. Walk among the tents and work stations, ask questions of the inter- preters and watch demonstra- tions of trapping, shooting, cooking and packing for the fur trade. Visitors will also be able to fish, crab and clam without a license on June 4 and 5. The event is organized and co-sponsored by the Sports Club, a group of area busi- nesses that promote the “Athlete of the Week” in Siuslaw News and on Coast Radio each week during the school year. The other co-sponsor is the Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club, which participates as a way to further recognize the accomplishments of not only the student athletes, but also their families and friends who support them through the year.
