Gallery One showcases art of earthly elements Select members of the Toledo Arts Guild will have their work exhibited through June 28 in Gallery One at the Florence Events Center. The show, titled “Four Elements,” will include art that represents the elements of earth, air, fi re and water. The 12 artists each have chosen work representative of one element. The exhibit will include both 3-D and 2-D work in the areas of photography, representing mixed media, ceramics, paintings, glass, Native American art, encaustic, and nature prints. The Toledo Arts Guild is an organization serving the arts community in the small mill town of Toledo. The Guild, now in its eighth year, encompasses all types of art, both visual and performing. The Toledo Arts Guild serves the town of Toledo by sponsoring creative activities for both children and adults. Siuslaw High School bands to host spring concert Calendar of Events Music from the Siuslaw High School bands will fi ll the auditorium when they perform their year-end concert on the Florence Events Center’s main stage on Monday, June 6, featuring each of Siuslaw’s award-winning music programs. Concert and dance — July 9 Van Fans — July 16 234th Army Band concert — July 23 Cavy Show — July 30 ONGOING EVENTS : Florence Rotary Club luncheon - Tuesdays at noon FEC to offer exhibit opportunities for local artists Florence Events Center will have several opportunities for artists to display their talents in Gallery One and Five during the fall and winter of 2016 and continuing in 2017. The FEC Gallery Committee, as part of Friends of the FEC, is giving artists advance notice of upcoming exhibits, as well as offering new and creative challenges to artists. The fi rst special exhibit will take place in October and November. This will be the second annual Artistic Visions Award Show. Cash awards will be given to winners in each category, as well as honorable mention ribbons. Qualifi ed jurors from outside the Florence area will judge this show. In December, the FEC will offer a new exhibit encouraging people to “Give Art this Christmas.” Artists will be asked to submit works that are $100 or less, and a fun reception will be planned with live music, refreshments and photos with Santa. January and February of 2017 will be third annual “For the Love of Animals” exhibit, with a reception held to benefi t the Florence Area Humane Society. Pet photos are always a fun part of this event. March and April will be a patriotic themed exhibit, with a reception benefi ting DAV and the Oregon Coast Military Heritage Museum. Publicity and details on each of the upcoming exhibits will be available the month prior, and applications will also be available at that time at www.eventcenter. org.
