After almost two years of
negotiations, the Port of
Siuslaw is now in possession of
a floating restroom to be
launched and moored in the
Siuslaw River later this sum-
mer.
The floating restroom is
intended to relieve congestion
at the port’s two-lane boat
ramp and the land-based rest-
rooms located on port property
by offering fishermen and crab-
bers a relief station mid-river.
The port applied for and
received a grant in 2013 to pur-
chase and install the floating
restroom. Most of the funding
was provided by a federal
Clean Vessel Act grant from the
Sport Fish Restoration and
Boating Trust Fund. The esti-
mated project cost upon instal-
lation is $65,000.

rogerebert.com, who gave the
film a four-star review. “The per-
formances Weiss elicits from her
two leading ladies are nothing
short of sublime. Davenport is
adept at conveying tremendous
feeling with the slightest flicker
of longing or heartache that regis-
ters on her face.
“She’s well matched with
Manning, an actress unafraid of
chewing the scenery, as evi-

filmmaking.”

“The event will continue to
grow,” Ruede said. “I wouldn’t
be surprised to see it double
again in size next year. It con-
tinues to draw interested par-
ties from around the area. It
gives local people and busi-
nesses a good feeling to be
able to participate.
“We want everyone to feel a
part of this.”

The event has grown from
just over 50 competitors in
2013, to more than 300 this
year. Sponsorship was signifi-
cantly up as well, which helped
reverse last year’s more than
$2,000 loss to a greater than
$4,000 profit this year.

“All of us have the same
goal — to find loving, forever
homes for these amazing ani-

team, that goal becomes much
easier to achieve,” added

Weeble
Hello out there, I’m a older gal looking for
a place to retire in comfort with a family
that understands seniors need a little
extra TLC. People say I have a little wobble
in my walk but I just call that swagger. My
perfect family would be loving, gentle
and able to provide me comfort and the
security of a forever home for my golden
years.

Florence.
Roth relocated to Florence
two years ago from Northern
California, where she owned
her own salon and worked full
time as stylist and colorist for
31 years. Her experience has
allowed her to make this shift
in her dream of living on the
coast to come true.
Roth invites her clients and
new friends to come in and
share the Renu experience.
“Your look, your way,” says
Roth.
Renu’s new location is 1739
there is a time limit on how
long boats may be tied up at the
dock. Some boaters choose not
to use the facilities and use the
river or an on-board bucket,
where the contents end up
being dumped in the river.
The Oregon Marine Board
issued a statement that said,
“Floating restrooms will better
serve boaters during the heavi-
est crabbing and fishing sea-
sons, and are available for all
forms of boaters, from paddlers
to cruisers. Floating restrooms
statewide captured over 16,000
gallons of sewage in 2015,
which helps protect the delicate
balance of our waterways.”
The port plans to hold a
press conference Thursday,
May 26, to announce the
launch date of the restroom and
hold a contest to name the
facility.
