The Show and Shine is Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Grocery Outlet parking lot off Highway 101. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The judged show is open to cars and trucks 1975 and older. It fea- tures more than 200 classic cars, especially British models, military vehicles, hot rods, rat rods and daily Show & Shine drivers, both stock and modified. Cars come from all over the Pacific Northwest. A favorite among locals is the car show pre-registration on Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. “This always turns into a small car show in its self. It is a great way to make Saturday morning run smooth- ly,” said event organizers. Judges will give trophies and awards between 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50 drawing, raffle prizes, hot dog booth and more. Shirts are also for sale. Don’t miss the evening Car Cruise through Old Town, put on by KCST Coast Radio. Sign-up is during the car show, but it is on a first-come, first-serve basis and space is limited. This running classic has been held during Florence’s Rhododendron Festival for 37 years. The race course for 2016 will take participants from the starting line at Florence Events Center, through the Bay Street Old Town District, along the Siuslaw River, out the scenic Rhododendron Drive and back.
