HELPS LOCAL GARDENS GROW YACHATS — Alzheimer’s Association Oregon Chapter will be holding a class, “Understanding and Responding to Dementia- Related Behavior,” Friday, April 29, in Yachats at Sea Aire Assisted Living Community, 1882 N. Highway 101, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Join the Alzheimer’s Association Oregon Chapter to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most com- mon behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK The Friends of the Siuslaw Public Library will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, April 28, at 11 a.m., in the Bromley Room. Agenda items this month will include: plans for the Friends’ booth at the Rhody Days Arts Festival — the YACHATS — Rainspout Music Festival will be this weekend, April 29 and 30 and May 1, at the Yachats Commons, 1555 Highway 101. Rainspout offers 11 acts and a Mayday Maypole dance. Festival attendees from last year requested more jams, and organizers listened. Jam sessions are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday mornings, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday’s jam will be hosted by the Blackberry Bushes Stringband and will be geared to bluegrass. Sunday morning’s session will be multi-genre. There are many other addi- tions to the Rainspout Music Festival this year.There will be a rare solo performance Saturday afternoon by gravel- ly voiced songwriter, guitar virtuoso and Criminal Records recording artist Joe Dobroe. Florence Rotary member and committee member Ron Caputo has arranged for free seeds for Siuslaw Elementary School gardens, Food Share gardens, St. Mary’s Church gardens, Mapleton Elementary School gardens and the Florence Community gardens. The garden managers are able to select from a vast variety of flower, herb and vegetable seeds in unlim- ited quantities.
