Barbara Martin TAXES & BOOKKEEPING CHANTELLE MEYER/SIUSLAW NEWS At the council meeting on March 21, Florence City Council voted to award grants of $1,000 to representatives from Siuslaw High School Project Graduation, Florence Emergency Cold Weather Shelter, Children’s Repertory of Oregon Workshops (CROW) and Florence Food Share. The council voted last year to add a grant program to the 2015-16 fiscal year. There were five grants available, and only four applicants. The grants will contribute to a location rental for a drug- and alcohol-free post-graduation celebration, purchase cots for the shelter, assist CROW in its building renovations and help Food Share with needed building improvements. Community Easter egg hunt Saturday The annual Florence Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m. in the Miller Park open field area. The Easter egg hunt is open to all children ages 1 to 10 years old. The hunt will consist of more than 4,000 plastic eggs filled with candy, along with some prize eggs sprinkled in. The Siuslaw High School Interact Club, which has 33 members from freshmen to seniors, organize and host this annual event with the help of the Rotary Club of Florence. Miller Park is located on 18th Street off Highway 101.
