Rhododendron Society — Siuslaw Chapter elcome to the Siuslaw Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society! We are located in Florence, Ore., the city of Rhododendrons. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month from September through May with a party in December and a picnic during the summer. The meetings are held at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, 3669 Highway 101 in Florence. Following a pre-meeting dinner, at various city restaurants, we gather at the church for a social time from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Our meet- ings are fairly informal, and we strive to give everyone as much information about rhododen- drons as we can. Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge to attend. We have one of the most active chapters in the ARS with two shows at the Florence Events Center. Our membership is made up of longtime enthusiasts, as well as nurserymen and many people who have moved to Rhody paradise and want to learn more about this wonderful plant. Our native Rhododendron — the macrophyl- lum — puts on a great show in the spring in the central coast area with colors ranging from white to almost red, and many varied shades of pink in between.
