M

Scouting programs have instilled in youth
the values found in the Scout Oath and Scout
Law and help youth develop academic skills,
self-coni dence, ethics and leadership and
citizenship skills that inl uence their adult lives.

BLUE & GOLD BANQUET
Florence-area Cub Scouts Pack 777
celebrates Scouting Anniversary Week
this month with an annual “birthday
party,” called the Blue and Gold Banquet, set for Saturday, Feb. 6.
One of the highlights of the year, the Blue and Gold Banquet is an opportunity
to celebrate the anniversary of scouting, to thank pack leaders and other adults
who help the pack, and to inspire the leaders, scouts and parents. It is also a
time to recognize the achievements of the fifth-grade Webelos as they receive
their Arrow of Light awards and advance into one of the local Boy Scout
Troops.
There will be an awards presentation, skits and games in addition to the
banquet, during which former members and other scouting or community
leaders may also take part.

The Adventure starts now!
The adventure starts with Cub Scouting, a year-round family program designed for boys in the 1st
through 5th grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about
the community, family understanding, character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.

The time you invest in him today will make a difference in the person he becomes tomorrow.
Character Development
Boy Scouting is for boys who are 11, or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade
or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award, through 17 years old. Boys experience a
vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster to achieve
the BSA’s objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Camping, fun with friends
-- and more. It’s the adventure of a lifetime.

Give back to the youth in your area
Through volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, you will work with youth to build a better future
for everyone. Scouting volunteers come to Scouting from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Plumbers, lawyers, housewives, teachers, doctors, janitors, and scientists—people from just about every
occupation imaginable – are involved in leading youth to become responsible, caring, and competent
citizens. They also quickly discover that Scout volunteering enables them to learn new skills and build
lifelong friendships while having fun.
