L ASSAN ARTWORK FEATURED AT OPB IN F EBRUARY “Birch Forest” painting by Gigi Lassan FLORENCE — Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA), and Oregon Pacific Bank (OPB) will present the artwork of Gigi Lassan in the lobby of OPB during the month of February. Raised in France, Lassan moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and was the founder and executive director of France Exchange School, an award winning French School. She and her husband, Allen, relocated to Florence in 2014, with the hope to “fulfill and rekin- dle” her artistic career, which had been on hold for several years. Lassan works primarily with acrylic paint, and has experimented with various art movements, including impressionism and expressionism. “I find most of my inspiration in the wilderness, Oregon coastline and the French countryside.” This is evidenced by her painting “Foret de Bouleaux” (Birch Forest), one of the paintings that will be on display at OPB during February. Lassan is a resident artist at The Kenneth B Gallery. She is also known in Florence for her jewelry art, named “Avec Le Temps.” (with time). COURTESY PHOTO Print Arts Northwest on display at Coos Art Museum COOS BAY — Coos Art Museum presents, “From Here to There,” an exhibition of original fine art prints by members of Print Arts Northwest. The exhibition, which will be held in the museum’s Maggie Carl and Vaughan Galleries runs through Feb. 6, 2016. Founded in 1981 as the Northwest Print Council, Print Arts Northwest creates opportunities to represent professional printmakers in the greater Northwest Region and educate the general public about printmaking. This exhibition highlights the wide array of aesthetics and tech- niques employed by more than three decades of Print Arts Northwest Artists. “Fox” by Liv Rainy-Smith The exhibition, “From Here to There,” is one of the largest in Print Arts Northwest’s history and features artists from all cor- ners of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The studio and offices of Print Arts Northwest are located at the Multnomah Arts Center, 7688 SW Capitol Highway Portland, Ore., 97219. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Museum admission is $5 general, $2 for students, veter- ans and seniors, and free to museum members. COURTESY PHOTO People’s Choice winning ‘Laughing Cauldrons’ at Coos Museum through Feb. 13 COOS BAY – Through Feb. 13, 2016, Coos Art Museum will be featuring a solo exhibition of artist Joyce H. Spicer in the Mabel Hansen Gallery. Spicer was selected for a one-person exhibition at Coos Art Museum after her large and vibrant multi-media vase form D EADLINE FOR sculpture “Copper Cauldron” won the People’s Choice prize in the 2014 CAM Biennial. Port Orford resident, Joyce H. Spicer uses a combination of natural materials and hand-made paper to create unique basket forms. C OAST C ENTRAL She studied at Oregon State College in Ashland and under several local weavers. Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies the historic 1936 Art Deco U.S. Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay.
