Siuslaw students to serve
seniors at pie social
Florence-area seniors are
invited to a Thanksgiving Pie
Social on Tuesday, Nov. 24,
from 1 to 2 p.m., at Siuslaw
High School, inside the main
entrance in the “Mall” area.
The KCST Viking Hour
crew is hosting this event to
connect the senior citizen
community with high school
students.
“This is a chance for
Siuslaw students to serve our
seniors and thank them for all
they have done for us,” said
Claire Waggoner, the show’s
student producer. “We get a
chance to connect over pie,
coffee and conversation. I am
hoping this will become an
annual event.”
Viking Hour is a Siuslaw
High School student-produced
and hosted weekly radio show
on 106.9 KCST. A team of
more than 12 students rotate
hosting the show every
Monday night from 7 to 8 p.m.
Grocery Outlet is helping
sponsor the event, and Kyle
Lewis and the Siuslaw
Culinary Arts program are
baking the pies.
