Adults and children dressed up spectacularly for candy and other treats. When the weather turned dark and stormy, people went to Scare-CROW Haunted Maze, Darlings Marina and other places in the area. Scare-CROW haunted house a spooktacular success Last weekend, local non- profit youth theatre organiza- tion, Children’s Repretory of Oregon Workshops (CROW) frightened hundreds of people as they wound their way through the many dark hall- ways and spooky corridors that made up the “Scare- CROW. Haunted House.” Scary clowns, expression- less blacklight dot monsters, COURTESY PHOTOS The CROW center was transformed into a haunted house over Halloween weekend. I T ’ S G ARAGE S ALE T IME !!!! CROW artistic director Melanie Heard announced that the fundraiser was not only a “terrifying blast” but that it brought in more than $3,300. “We will be able to contin- ue our renovations on the CROW Center for the Performing Arts,” says Heard, WEDNESDAY THURSDAY “so that we can hopefully open our doors as soon as pos- sible for our local kids in the arts.” CROW intends to utilize its new facility to support Florence’s youth in a variety of ways, including ongoing classes in the arts. “All money raised from this event will go right back to our local kids,” says Heard. Even though the facility is not yet open to the public, CROW was granted a tempo- rary permit to hold this event by the City of Florence. CROW is already planning to make next year’s Haunted House bigger and better. “We’ve been collecting ideas and saving them in a huge file for next year,” says Heard. “Don’t be surprised when we scare you once again in 2016 with even more detailed spooky scenes!” Anyone interested in donat- ing scary props or costumes can contact Heard at 541-999-8641 or email crowtheatrekids@yahoo.com.
