‘Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?’ Find out July 3, 4
FLORENCE — If you enjoyed last
summer’s tribute to the Ink Spots called
“If I Didn’t Care,” then you are sure to
enjoy Mike Jacobson’s newest offering,
“Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?”
Billed as a “classic country music retro-
spective with over 45 hits,” this summer’s
first production at the Florence Playhouse
features the music of such country music
icons as Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline,
Marty Robbins, Kitty Wells, Johnny Cash,
June Carter Cash, Roy Orbison, Dottie
West, George Jones, Tammy Wynette,
Ernest Tubb, Conway Twitty and several
others.
The memorable music of these country
music greats is bound to set your feet a-
tappin’ and your heart a-soarin’.
Marty Adams will once again tickle the
ivories as both the musical director and
arranger, and Mike Jacobson will once
again direct the show.

Group to share insights into
successful writing techniques
FLORENCE — On July 14, from 2 to
3:30 p.m., the Creative Crones Writers
(CC Writers) will host a presentation in
the Bromley Room at Siuslaw Public
Library, 1460 Ninth St.
Budding or experienced writers are
invited to attend and learn tips and tricks
for creating your own writing group.
Six local women have been meeting as
a bimonthly group since 2010. Members
are: Pattie Anderson, Jacquie Beveridge,
Denise Dee, Barbara Giles, Mary Nulty
and Sharon Stiles.
The ladies all attended one or more of
the Memoir Writing courses taught by
retired educator Barbara Giles. Two
classes were at Lane Community
College and four were held at Florence
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
In the classes they learned terminolo-
gy, tools to get started, writing a draft,

editing, revising, final editing and com-
pleting the final product.
Most importantly, they also learned to
support one another as writers, providing
and receiving constructive feedback.
It was the constructive feedback that
motivated them to form their own group
and encourage each other to write.
As involved members of the Florence
community the CC Writers benefit from
the commitment to meet and share writ-
ing twice a month.
The encouragement and support of the
group inspires them to keep creating.
In the July presentation, the CC
Writers will share their history, time
schedule, critiquing, retreats, the value
of the group and prompts to generate
inspiration.
They will also briefly share pieces
they have published.

The show also features the
formidable keyboard artistry
and vocal excellence of
Marty Adams, Florence’s
favorite musician.
“Who’s Gonna Fill Their
