FEATURED ARTIST FOR J ULY AT
FLORENCE — Noted ceramic artist
Kris DeNoyer is to be honored at a recep-
tion on July 11, from 3 to 5 p.m., at
Backstreet Gallery, 1421 Bay St., and will
be featured all month at the gallery.
In 2000, DeNoyer made her first num-
bered piece. Each of her 2,300 ceramic
creations by are one-of-a-kind and num-
bered.

wheel-thrown, sculptures to the joyful
whimsical hand built ‘critters’ and from
the tiny to the substantial.
In her menagerie of creatures you will
find a vibrant collection of animated
starfish, pelicans, fish, elephants, flying
pigs, frogs and bunnies.
“They make me laugh,” DeNoyer said
of her creations. All of these individual
critters have a special name in addition to
their number.
Always interested in art, she once
thought sketching to be her forte. After
taking classes in various art media, she
discovered ceramics and changed her
major to concentrate her artistic efforts in
that area.

In addition to great art, Denny Weaver,
guitarist, will be playing a variety of great
tunes.
Weaver is a Florence native and was
one of the founding members of the popu-
lar local band “The Intruders” back in the
’60s. He then joined the legendary NW
band “The Fabulous Wailers,” continuing
his musical career across North America,
returning to his home town just a few
years ago.
He and his skillful guitar playing can be
heard on Saturday nights at HomeGrown
Public House Restaurant.
