Don’t worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats. -Howard Aiken *** Failure does not count. If you accept this, you’ll be success- ful. What causes most people to fail is that after one failure, they’ll stop trying. -Frank Burford *** A picture that is beau- tiful, or that comes off, or that works, looks as if it was all made at one stroke. -Helen Frankenthaler *** The follies which a man regrets most in his life are those which he didn’t com- mit when he had the opportunity. -Helen Rowland *** There are noble tones, ordinary ones, tranquil harmonies, consoling ones, oth- ers which excite by their vigor. -Paul Gauguin 1966 15’ SEAKING Fiberglass. Even if you’ve already sched- uled your family vacation, give them a voice by involv- ing them in some of the plan- ning. According to AAA, 21 percent of respondents listed “family arguments about where to go and what to do” as one of their biggest sum- mer vacation frustrations. • Declare digital free- dom. E-mails and social media can wait. Use summer to reconnect with nature, your family and friends. Put your phone on silent. Store it in an out-of-reach bag. But keep it in case of emergen- cies. • Choose a wet destina- tion. Many believe a vacation on water can give everyone in the family the chance to do something they enjoy. • Think long term. Spending now on a lake house, boat or RV may save you money and headaches on future vacations. Real free- dom is taking vacation on your schedule. Another way to secure long-term value for your vacation dollar is by investing in quality equipment, both on the water and on land. For instance, new to the water this year is the Evinrude(r) E-TEC(r) G2(tm) outboard engine. An innovative, boldly styled engine, it’s designed to deliv- er 15 percent better fuel effi- ciency, 20 percent more torque and 75 percent fewer regulated emissions than its competitors’. Contributing to the engine’s lifetime value is the fact that it doesn’t require dealer maintenance for five years. It’s also available in 350 color combinations. Consumers can test-ride boats rigged with the Evinrude E-TEC G2 line of outboard engines at select locations. To find one, visit www.EvinrudeTestRides.co m. U.S. and Japanese studies have found that black and green teas have antibacterial powers that may help prevent cavities and gum disease. 999 ✦ PUBLIC NOTICES 999 ✦ PUBLIC NOTICES NOTICE OF INTENT TO PREPARE AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR EROSION CONTROL AND REPLACEMENT OF BOATHOUSE AT US COAST GUARD STATION SIUSLAW RIVER, FLORENCE, OREGON The US Coast Guard (USCG) proposes to construct two groins for erosion control and to rebuild the boat- house at USCG Station Siuslaw in Florence, Oregon. The waterfront and upland assets at the station are at risk of failure in the long term from ongoing riverbed scour and erosion of the bluff face, and the existing boathouse has deteriorated and is approaching the end of its design life. Failure of the facilities would jeopard- ize USCG missions of search and rescue, law enforce- ment, and marine and environmental protection. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act, the USCG intends to prepare an Environmental As- sessment that evaluates the potential effects on the en- vironment of a range of replacement alternatives, as well as a No Action Alternative. Interested parties are invited to comment on the pro- posed action. Comments should be submitted by july 17, 2015 to Ms. Constance Callahan, USCG-Civil Engi- neering Unit Oakland, 1301 Clay St, Ste 700N, Oak- land, CA 94612-5203; 510-637-5523 or constance.m.callahan@uscg.mil.
