Florence Police Department
(FPD) arrested John Leslie
Green, 53,
this week, a
fugitive
sought by the
U.S. Marshal
Service for
violation of
parole
in
Idaho.
John Leslie
The U.S.
Green
Marshal Ser-
vice contacted Florence Police
in December 2014 due to the
possibility of financial activity
in the Florence area by
Green.
FPD checked out leads, but
officers were unable to locate
Green at that time due to his
transient status.
In the first week of June,
officers recovered a stolen
vehicle from a transient camp
off Munsel Lake Road.

Correction
In the front-page article,
“Committees in motion,” in
the June 3, 2015, issue of the
Siuslaw News, it was inaccu-
rately stated that Florence
City Councilor Ron Preisler
will be the ex-officio member
of the city’s new economic
development
committee.
Mayor Joe Henry will repre-
sent the city instead. Siuslaw
News regrets the error.
Officers have been to the
camp several times over the
past week following leads on
the Camp Florence escapee
from earlier this month.
Officers returned to the
camp Tuesday, June 9, after
receiving a report of another
stolen vehicle.
While there, they made con-
tact with Green and discovered
that the U.S. Marshal Service
had issued a bulletin on him as
a fugitive from Idaho.
He was then arrested.
Green is on parole out of
Idaho for robbery and posses-
sion of a controlled substance.
He was released from custody
in June 2014 and was listed as
a fugitive out of Idaho in
September 2014.
FPD has charged Green with
identify theft, manufacture of a
controlled substance and false
information to police.
