SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2015 11 A Yachats Ladies Club holds first Pie Social this Saturday If pie is your favorite dessert this will be a great opportunity to indulge. There will be more than 50 fruit and cream pies available, brownies and vanilla ice cream to top off each serv- ing. Each slice is a sixth of a pie and all pies are handmade by club members. Cost per slice is $3.50, a scoop of ice cream is .50 cents, brownies are $2 and coffee and tea are $1. Pie is frequently gone earlier than later, so come early for the best selection and availability. To-go boxes are available. The Yachats Ladies Club remodeled its building in 2007. Thanks to a generous donation of kitchen cabinets and appli- ances, the club has a large working area that is the back- bone of many club fundraisers. But with increase in use comes, members plan to upgrade the stove and ovens. Proceeds from the Pie Social will go to the Club’s Appliance Upgrade Fund. The Yachats Ladies Club, established in 1927, is an active service club for women who enjoy creating community events that raise funds for com- munity non profit groups.
