SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 2015 Darlings Marina, RV Park under new ownership DUNES CITY — As of May 1, Darlings Marina and RV Resort has new owners. The resort is now owned and operated on-site by Rich and Lori Olson, managing direc- tors of Olson Retreats, Inc. Recently from Yakima, Wash., Rich Olson was the public works director at the City of Tieton for eight years. Prior to that, he worked for Yakima County as a heavy equipment operator. Lori Olson worked as a sen- ior program coordinator for the South Central Workforce Council, overseeing area WorkSource and WIA pro- grams. Prior to that she was the director of public relations for a regional insurance agency. Once a popular hangout for Florence-area residents, Dar- lings Marina boasts a “million dollar view” of the beautiful and tranquil Siltcoos Lake. The Olsons intend to bring Darlings back to its former glory as a family-oriented camping, fishing and “go-to” hotspot. The camp store is up and running and carries all of the items campers might need for a successful outing. A small tackle shop is in the works and should be fully stocked by the end of May. Additionally, a craft pub is scheduled to open in July and will serve Pacific Northwest craft brews, ciders and wines as well as sandwiches, soups and salads. Visitors to the pub will be able to sit and relax, visit with friends and enjoy the incredible view. Darlings is currently taking reservations for its full hookup, partial hookup (lake- front) and tent sites. Bring your fishing gear because guests are catching 23” trout right off the dock. Call for reservations at 541- 997-2841. Klippel to speak on natural cleaning products Florence Herb Enthusiasts will host popular local speaker Frances Klippel during their Thursday, May 21, meeting.
