Siuslaw Middle School choir students from sixth, seventh and eighth grades were treated to a free concert by the
Voetberg Family Band on March 16. The eight Voetberg siblings range in ages from 15 to 25 and played a mix of
American swing-jazz and traditional Irish and Scottish tunes. The Voetbergs, from Centralia, Wash., performed at the
Florence Events Center on March 15. The middle school community outreach performance was one of several simi-
lar events sponsored by SEAcoast Entertainment Association each year.

There also are other learning
opportunities in gardening,
such as math, science of bugs
and soil, writing, social studies
and stress relief.
Through the experience of
gardening, students will learn
to be good stewards of the
